Manuel Albarran is a master craftsman who is based between Barcelona and Bali. I met him by chance in a shooting I supported to be organized for him, and at the instance, we wanted to do something bigger together. I was amazed by his curriculum: “ he was working within the worlds of Fashion, Advertising & Editorial ; Isabella Blow, Nick Night , Nicola Formichetti, Georgia May Jagger, Cara Delevingne, ID, Dazed And Confused, Vogue... -Campaigns include those for Givenchy and Lavazza; to his creating costumes for Movies, Video clips & elaborate Stage Shows; & designing custom pieces for International Artists... Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, Madonna... to name but a few... Manuel Albarran is... Metal Couture.” We started meeting in his studio in Barcelona. In one of those encounters, we came up with the idea to recreate the masterpiece The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch, representing special creatures born from the imagination of Manuel.
Manuel created a metallic eroticism in the maximum splendor of the two mutant goddesses, accompanied by the guardians and saviors of another reality, mechanical skeletons of animals with a very glamorous and subtle style, with compositions that perfectly outline their angles. Amaia Arzua and her team set up a 50-m2 garden with a stage in Ocaña where Manuel´s protagonists were captured by the photographer. On the other side of the venue was the backstage area with the hairdressers, costume department, and makeup; the audience had free flow between the spaces.
