Joaquima Laguna, the owner of Ocaña, had met Jean Simó and told me he wrote a book against the football that she wants to present in her local and ask me to develop this project. I was concerned because Barcelona is a destination for soccer lovers and was trying to come up with an idea that could bring a positive perspective in the presentation and not be only focused on the critic of the game and all that is surrounding it.
This was the reason I decided to give 53 white soccer balls to a diversity of creative people from the city and asked them to customize the balls. The title of the book written by Jean Simó, The Similiar was the reference to the name of the exhibition, The Similars. All balls were similar but different at the same time. Between invited creatives were: gallery owners, fashion designers, architects, artists and I had a special honor to work very closely with Antxón Gómez who is the creative director of all Almodovar´s movies as well an avid collector of lights and stories.
We presented the book with a performance, exhibition, and a mix of emotions.
